RPG Artifact & Relic Generator FAQ

How do Artifacts differ from standard magic items?

Artifacts and Relics are unique, named worldbuilding anchors that function as campaign engines rather than simple stat-sticks. They feature tiered powers (dormant, awakened, ascendant), attunement rituals, consequential costs or curses, interested factions hunting them, and legendary destruction conditions.

Does this generator support non-fantasy genres?

Yes. When you choose a genre like Sci-Fi, Cyberpunk, Western, Steampunk, or Cosmic Horror, the generator adapts the underlying causal logic — creating lost precursor super-tech, cursed outlaw iron, or eldritch relics without forcing fantasy spells into modern or technological settings.

What details are included in each generated artifact?

Each artifact contains an evocative title, tactile craftsmanship description, Quick Reference metadata, multi-tier powers, attunement requirements, a consequential curse or taboo, historical provenance, 2-3 interested factions, rumours, adventure hooks, and destruction/sealing conditions.

Can I save generated relics directly into my Codex Cryptica vault?

Yes. Clicking 'Save to Codex' stores the artifact draft in your browser. Open Codex Cryptica and it imports directly as an Item entity with full Markdown notes, ready to link to your factions, locations, and campaign timeline.
