Point Crawl Generator FAQ

What does the Point Crawl Generator create?

It builds a connected network of 6 to 15 locations (with a Start, hubs, obstacles, optional side nodes, secrets, and a Goal) linked by explicit travel routes. Every node includes sensory details, an encounter or feature, and concrete signposts pointing to connected routes. Every route includes distance or travel time, terrain, risk, and optional gates.

How does it prevent dead-end or unsolvable locked routes?

A deterministic topology and playability verifier checks every generated network using breadth-first search (BFS). It guarantees at least two branching choice nodes, at least one loop for tactical flanking or retreat, at least one hidden or rumoured shortcut, and verifies that any key, clue, or tool required by a gated route is placed at a node reachable from the Start without crossing that locked route.

Can I use it for cities, wilderness, or sci-fi star systems?

Yes. Choose from six scales — Dungeon, Settlement, City, Wilderness, Region, or Planet / System — across all 13 genres. Route travel times, terrain types, and hazards automatically adapt to your chosen scale and theme.

How does saving a point crawl to my Codex Cryptica vault work?

When you click 'Save to Codex', you can save all generated points or toggle a subset on the interactive graph. Each selected point is imported as a Location entity with automatic route connections and a 'Routes & Exits' lore section, alongside a master overview Note entity that links the entire crawl together.
